‧ A journey of understanding ‧

Born in Perth, Australia, as a child, I moved frequently with my family, and then continued to travel and work throughout my 20s. Living a transient life resulted in a lot of soul-searching and self-discovery, and seeking answers to the larger questions in life, such as: What is my purpose? What is the meaning of life? Where can I find a true sense of belonging? How can people become the greatest version of themselves? Throughout my travels, I had the privilege of witnessing and experiencing relationships with people of many different cultural backgrounds, while taking note of the impact that cultural and personal belief systems have with the ways in which people relate to their significant other. I developed a keen interest and curiosity in why some relationships work and why others don’t, and began searching for the catalyst. These explorations have led me to develop a perspective of thinking outside the box and to consider creative possibilities for change, both for individuals and relationships.

Brenden Taylor, MA RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
‧ Professional Background ‧

In addition to being both a certified teacher and a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I also hold a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Child & Youth Care from the University of Victoria.  Although my counselling practice focuses on adults and couples, this educational background gives me a keen sense of how our early childhood development impacts us as adults, both as individuals and within our relationship dynamics, and is often important to unpack in the therapeutic process.  Moreover,  I have expert training in relationship counselling from the highly regarded PREP program at the University of Denver.

Over the last 5 years, in addition to working in private practice, I have taught interpersonal communication and counselling skills courses at the University of Victoria, facilitated youth leadership academies, and worked as a counsellor at the Victoria Child Abuse Prevention & Counselling Centre supporting children, youth, and families healing from abuse.

‧Individuals ‧ Couples ‧

Developing my private practice with individuals and couples is my passion.  The most important part of the therapeutic relationship is that I am a good fit for your needs and that there is a felt sense of connection and safety.  I offer a free 20 minute consultation to explore the possibility of working together.
